Keep Properties and Service History Together

Irrigation service leans on details nobody writes down anywhere formal: where the backflow assembly sits, which side of the garage the controller lives on, that the far zone was capped in a prior visit, that the gate code changed last month. The customer record holds contact details, the service address, notes and every past visit with its photos, parts and completion notes attached. It’s a warning, not a lock: nothing stops the assignment outright.

Capture Notes, Photos and Customer Evidence

Closing a job requires at least one photo from before the work, at least one from after, and a signature — Opsler won’t let a technician finish without them. A per-service checklist can travel onto the job as well, so every technician runs the same startup routine in the same order; an item marked required shows a small red asterisk as a reminder, but it’s the photos and signature that actually gate completion, not the checklist itself.

None of that depends on a signal. Before heading somewhere coverage isn’t expected — a backyard valve box, a rural property at the edge of a route — a technician’s device caches today’s jobs, the service and parts catalogs, tax settings, the assigned van’s location, current stock levels and recent customer history. With that stored locally, opening a job, adding photos and notes, working through the checklist and finishing the visit with a signature all behave the same with no bars showing, and everything queues to send the moment a connection returns.

One exception, stated plainly: an estimate started completely offline does not currently sync once the technician reconnects. Talk through pricing at the property if that’s useful, but save a brand-new estimate once you’re back on a connection rather than while fully offline. Build Estimates for Repairs and Upgrades

When a technician finds a sheared head or a valve that needs replacing, the estimate is built on site from your own catalog of services and parts, priced and ready before they leave the property. A repair can go out as a single number or as a Good/Better/Best set — patch the one head, replace the zone’s aging heads while the technician is there, replace the whole zone’s piping — so the customer chooses a level instead of answering yes or no to one figure.

Track Parts and Complete Invoices

Heads, nozzles, valves, fittings and small controller parts sit in inventory across up to three location types — warehouse, truck and van — so a technician’s van shows what’s actually loaded rather than one shared number. Parts used on a job come off wherever they were pulled from the moment the job is completed, and two separate stock thresholds can trigger a low-stock alert before a van runs dry mid-season. The invoice itself is built from what actually happened — the completed checklist, the parts used, the approved estimate if there was one.
