Someone approves before paying

A person reads the hours on screen and keys the approved total into whatever runs payroll. Treat this step as manual — nothing pushes it there automatically.

Worked example: a technician taps Start Job on a water-heater call at 9:00, taps Pause Work for a 20-minute parts run at 10:15, taps Resume Work at 10:35, then taps Complete Job at 11:30. That is 2 hours 15 minutes of WORK and 20 minutes of PAUSE on one job, captured from the job’s own status changes, with nothing typed into a separate timesheet. At a $32-an-hour rate, that interval is $72 of direct labor cost feeding the job profitability figure below. It is also, not coincidentally, the same 2.25 hours a payroll product would need in order to pay the technician for the visit.

Where to actually read the numbers: the job record shows the WORK/PAUSE interval history, and the Technician Efficiency Table totals hours, revenue and revenue per hour per technician on screen. There is no bulk export of that table today, so this is a screen you read and copy from by hand, not a file a payroll system pulls from. Small team, W-2 only

A general small-business payroll product is usually enough contractor payroll software. Confirm it handles your state's overtime rules and that entering hours is not painful — that is the part you will do every period.

Mixed W-2 and 1099

Can I export time data directly into my payroll system?

Not as a direct feed today. The hours live in two places you can read on screen: the job record, which shows the WORK and PAUSE interval history, and the Technician Efficiency Table, which totals hours, revenue and revenue per hour per technician. There's a separate monthly revenue export (CSV or XLSX, every plan) — but that file reports invoiced dollars by category (parts, labor, service, custom), not hours worked, so it isn't a payroll feed either. Until a bulk hours export exists, read the numbers from the screen and enter them into whatever runs payroll yourself.
