If your system forces a date at creation, both of those become guesses in a calendar that nobody trusts by Friday.

The assigned technician is notified when work lands on them. There is one deliberate exception worth knowing: jobs generated automatically by a recurring series do not fire an individual assignment notification, because a quarterly series across forty customers would otherwise produce forty notifications in one overnight run. Those jobs appear on the board normally; they just arrive quietly.
What Opsler will not do is choose the technician for you. There is no skills-based automatic dispatch weighing certifications, travel time and workload to make the decision. That is a real feature in enterprise field-service platforms and it is genuinely useful at scale — at four technicians, the person doing the dispatching usually knows better than an algorithm would.
Handle conflicts, cancellations and field changes
Days do not survive contact with reality. Three things go wrong repeatedly, and how a product handles them tells you more than its feature list does.
Double-booking

The customer is not automatically told
If you move a job, Opsler does not send the customer an SMS about it. SMS is a planned bring-your-own-provider integration and it is not live. Plan repeat work without inventing automation
Recurring job series handle work that repeats on a known rhythm: a quarterly filter change, a six-monthly service, a fortnightly clean. You set the interval, and occurrences are generated automatically up to 30 days ahead on a daily refresh, landing on the dispatch board like any other job.
Three specifics, because this is exactly the area where vendors describe more than they do.
- The interval is fixed, not adaptive. A quarterly series generates on the calendar rule you set. If the March visit actually happened in April, the June occurrence does not shift to July. It is a schedule, not a due-date engine.
- The horizon is 30 days. You see the next month of generated work, not the next year. That keeps the board readable and stops a two-year series filling your diary with speculative bookings.
- It is a Pro plan feature. Recurring series are not on the free Budding plan.
What this is not is condition-based or predictive scheduling. Nothing raises work because a meter reading crossed a threshold or an asset is due by usage hours. That is maintenance-management territory, and if that is your requirement you want a product built around an asset register.
GPS, routing, skills and SMS: what to verify

Available on the Pro plan, from the dispatch board, and worth describing precisely because the term is used loosely across this market. You pick one technician and one day and run it as a deliberate action. Opsler splits that day into fixed jobs and flexible ones: a 9am appointment the customer was promised stays exactly where it is, and the flexible stops around it are re-sequenced into a sensible driving order using Google’s own driving-time data. It needs at least two flexible stops with addresses to have anything to work with.
What it is not is an automatic scheduler. It does not decide which jobs go into the day, it does not move work between technicians, and it never runs on its own in the background. Ask any vendor which of those two things they mean — a manual re-sequencing tool and an autonomous dispatch engine are both sold as “route optimisation” and they are very different products.
GPS
Opsler captures a location snapshot at three milestones on the Pro plan — when a technician marks themselves en route, when they mark arrived, and when they complete the job. Those three stamps are attached to the job record, so you can answer “what time did we actually get there” with something better than a recollection, which is exactly what you want when a customer disputes a call-out.
That is genuinely different from live tracking, and the difference matters: there is no map of vans moving in real time, no breadcrumb trail of a technician’s day, and no geofencing.
