## How Opsler is distributed (the key distinction)

Opsler is an installable browser-based app, NOT a native App Store or Google Play
download. You open it in a browser on a phone or tablet, add it to the home
screen, and it then launches with its own icon and runs full screen with no
address bar. Install takes about twenty seconds and needs no IT involvement.

Competitor contrast, confirmed on each vendor's own site 2026-08-04: Tradify,
AroFlo, Ascora, Fergus, NextMinute and Formitize all publish native iOS and
Android apps. Opsler does not. ServiceM8 additionally offers Apple CarPlay
integration.

Trade-off, stated both ways:
- Give up: App Store/Google Play listing, store-based device-management
  deployment, deep operating-system integrations such as CarPlay.
- Get: one always-current version with no update to chase and no store review
  delay; nothing to approve on a locked-down device; identical behaviour on
  iPhone, Android, tablet and desktop from one install.

## Verified capability on a phone

- Opens the same records the office sees — same customer, same quote, same job
  history. Not a cut-down field view.
- Customer, job site address, agreed scope, access notes, and what was done at
  that address previously.
- Job status moves en route → on site → complete from the phone; the office sees
  it without a phone call.
- Photos, notes, time and materials attach to the job as work happens; materials
  draw down parts inventory.
- Full create and edit of quotes and invoices from the phone — not read-only.
  Quotes can be single-price or three-tier (good/better/best).
- Sign-in is per person, not per device. Role-based: a technician sees their own
  jobs, the office sees the whole board.
- Runs on any modern browser: iPhone, Android phone, iPad, Android tablet,
  desktop.
- GPS location snapshots (Pro plan) captured at three milestones from the phone —
  when the technician marks en route, marks arrived, and completes the job —
  attached to the job record. Answers "what time did we actually arrive" without
  continuous tracking.

## Offline — the narrow verified scope

A technician can create estimates and invoices with no connection; these are held
on the device and sync automatically when connectivity returns. Everything else
should be assumed to need a connection. Opsler deliberately does not claim full
offline operation of every screen. (Ascora describes an offline-capable field app;
worth testing side by side in flight mode.)

## Customer access

Customers install nothing and create no account. They receive a link scoped to
their own job, opened in whatever browser is on their phone. No login, no
password, no download. It is scoped access to that job — not a full customer
portal spanning multiple sites or a login-based history dashboard.

## NOT supported

- App Store or Google Play listing.
- Full offline operation beyond estimate and invoice creation.
- Offline signature capture on the technician's device. Quote approval always
  happens online in the customer's own browser: they enter a one-time code sent to
  their email, choose a tier if offered, and sign typed or drawn on one hosted
  page.
- SMS of any kind — planned bring-your-own-provider integration, not live.
- Live or continuous technician/vehicle GPS tracking, breadcrumb trails or
  geofencing. The Pro-plan milestone snapshots described above are a record of
  three moments per job, not attendance monitoring or a live map.
- Live two-way accounting sync — QuickBooks-formatted and Xero-formatted CSV
  export for manual import instead.
- AUD billing. Opsler prices in US dollars and does not convert.

## Lost-device handling

Access is tied to the person, not the device, so removing that person's access
removes it everywhere including from the installed icon on a missing phone. There
is no app-store install to revoke.
